- What's the first thing I should do?
- Load what you already have. Open Scan multiple items and scan or search from our database of over a million foods, one after another. Most kitchens take one sitting. How to load your pantry.
- Do I have to log everything I eat?
- No. Cook a recipe and the pantry counts down; when something's gone, tap All gone. Logging meals is there when you want nutrition.
- How does Tuna know how much I have?
- From what happens in your kitchen. What comes in, you confirm: a scan, or a receipt with the amounts and the prices you paid. Cooking takes out what the recipe used, and All gone takes out what's finished or went bad. So when Tuna says how much is left, it's a count, not a guess. Real amounts, not guesses.
- Is Tuna an AI meal planner?
- No. Tuna doesn't decide what you eat. It shows you options from what you already have: the recipes you love that use what needs eating, and meals you've made before. You pick. Tuna uses AI for specific jobs, like reading a grocery receipt or pulling a recipe out of a link.
- How do expiring food alerts work?
- When anything in your pantry is about to expire, Tuna sends one alert, “Food needs eating.” Tap it and Clean the Fridge opens on what needs eating. Everyone in the house who turns on alerts gets it. More on expiring food alerts.
- Can I chat with my pantry?
- Yes. Say or type what you bought, ate, cooked or tossed (“we finished the milk and I tossed the spinach”). Tuna lists each change and saves nothing until you confirm. It works from Talk to Tuna, from Say what you have in Scan multiple items, and from your AI chat app. How to chat with your pantry.
- Can I use Tuna from my AI chat app?
- Yes. Tuna connects to AI chat apps that support connectors. See Connect Tuna to your AI chat app for the steps.
- Can my household share it?
- Yes. Add the people you share a kitchen with; everyone sees the same pantry and the adults share one grocery list.
- Can I bring my own recipes?
- Yes. Import any recipe from a link, or snap a photo of a cookbook page.
- What's free, and what's Big Tuna?
- Tuna is free to start. Free includes a starter allowance (lifetime totals, listed on Pricing). Big Tuna removes the limits, adds Tuna in your AI chat app and household invites, and one subscription covers everyone in the house.
